Dunfermline Abbey &
Pittencrief Park Photo Mug

Dunfermline Abbey dominates this Fife town and Pittencrief Park is located right next to the abbey. The park
was created by Andrew Carnegie for the people of Dunfermline. He was formerly a local man who emigrated to America where he made a fortune in business. However he never forgot his roots and donated much of his
wealth to local good causes. Dunfermline Abbey was built by King David 1st though the first Christian Church
was built around 800 AD on this site. Many changes have taken place at the Abbey over its lifetime, the most recent being the installation of The Bruce Memorial Window in 1974 to commemorate the 700th anniversary
of the birth of Robert the Bruce. Dunfermline means "fort by the crooked pool" and takes its name from
Malcolm's Tower, now a ruin but once where King Malcolm and his wife lived before Dunfermline Palace
was completed.
Our Dunfermline Abbey & Pittencrief Park Gift Mug features an oval photo looking through gates within the
park to the Abbey itself, and the iron gate is quite an attractive piece of work in itself. Anyone who has an
interest in Dunfermline Abbey & Pittencrief Park (known locally as The Glen) will value this designer mug, and it
makes an ideal Birthday Gift, Christmas Gift or as a Souvenir Gift at any time of the year.
