Spitfire Clock

Spitfire Clock

The iconic symbol of WW2 and in particular The Battle of Britain, the Spitfire evokes a huge feeling in many
people even today. Although the model depicted here is the Mk XVIII and did not see active service in
The Battle of Britain, it serves to remind us all of the beautiful planes all the various models of the Spitfire were.
Powered by a Rolls-Royce 65 engine, over 300 of this particular model were built. Originally designed by
R J Mitchell and based on techniques used for the Supermarine S6B racing seaplane, the Spitfire was the first all metal fighter to enter service in August 1938. Over 20,000 Spitfires were made in 22 variations and is
considered to be the most successful design of a fighter aircraft. It certainly has to rank as being the most
well known of all fighter aircraft throughout the world.

This clock shall be an excellent gift for any lovers of the Spitfire. The image is set against a sky background with
the clock detail below the nose of the plane and with the name Spitfire and the model in text.

The body of the unit is in the "block" style with a black surround to the frame. The movements are good quality quartz battery movements which require an "AA" size battery for power (not supplied). A strut is provided for
desk standing, and there are also hanging slots on the reverse for wall hanging.

Our clocks do not come boxed, but they shall be well wrapped for posting.
Overall clock dimensions are 7.5" x 5.25" x1/2" deep (all sizes approximate).
