The Meanings of Gaelic and Celtic Names
Our Personalised Name Mugs give the meanings of traditional Gaelic Names & Celtic Names.We take some time to research the meanings of Celtic or Gaelic fore names and use a mix of information gathered and condenseit into a few brief lines. These Personalised Name Mugs are designed
with the person's name in a large typeface at the top centre of the mug and the given meaning is then laid out underneath this. The designer gift mugs are then further adorned with a thistle at either side of the text, though this can be replaced with Welsh or Irish symbols instead if desired.
We can illustrate 2 examples of these mugs with names on here: the one above for Catriona,
and the main text for this reads as follows:
"A popular name in Scotland and Ireland, it may derive from the Greek Aikaterine or Katheros and it's
thought to mean clear, pure. It is the Gaelic form of Catherine who is patron saint of young girls, students & nurses. Pronounced Katrina, there are various forms of this name, however, Catriona became more popular when Robert Louis Stevenson named a character thus in his book Kidnapped."
